Dogs are more than our pets; they are our family. So when Melissa Meiners met her boyfriend, James Killen, she was hoping that he will get along with her 8-year-old Chihuahua, Sammy, else it will be a deal-breaker.
To her surprise, both James and Sammy got along just fine. Melissa and Sammy would come over at James’ place for movie night. It got to the point where both Melissa and Sammy would spend the night at his home.
However, James’ bed was too high for tiny Sammy that he could not jump up on the bed on his own. So James stepped up and did something very special for Sammy — he built him his personal ramp on his bed.
Bond Beyond Just Friends Between Chihuahua and Boyfriend
With the ramp in place, Sammy could now get up or down the bed without having to launch himself on top of it. James’ gesture meant a lot to Melissa, and even though they’ve only been together for four months, she can see their relationship lasting forever based on how James is treating her dog, Sammy.
He took it to himself to give something back to Sammy for being part of Melissa’s life. And seeing that both have created a bond beyond just friends, Melissa is happy that she chose James.
In the video below, Sammy can be seen happily walking on the ramp on James’ bed. The ramp is nailed to the footboard, which means that it is permanent. Sammy and Melissa are now a part of his life as well.
As Melissa tells Sammy to “Get up there,” Sammy gladly walks up the ramp and then proceeds to lay on James’ bed. Sammy is lucky to have Melissa as a mom, and now, he’s even luckier to have James as his dad. What a lucky boy!
Watch as Sammy proudly walks up the ramp that James has built for him in the video below.
