A lot of accidents happen in the winter because of the freezing temperatures and the slippery and icy roads. Just before Christmas though, a miracle happened in Bozeman, Montana when a dog fell into a frozen pond but was saved by good samaritans.
UPS Driver Ryan Arens was going on his usual daily route to drop off some deliveries. Everything was going well until he heard a loud dog crying as if asking for help. He stopped by a nearby house and checked to see what was happening.
By the frozen pond, he saw a poor dog that was in the water, trying its best to hold onto the ice. A man in a rowboat was also there, struggling to rescue the pooch. Ryan immediately shed off his clothes to make him lighter as he carefully walked on ice to rescue the dog.
However, as Ryan was getting near, the boat fell into the ice making him fall into the water as well. He immediately swam towards the poor pup and pulled her over to the ice and made their way out of the frozen pond.
The man who was on the boat earlier offered Ryan and the pooch a warm shower to help them feel better. Luckily, the man was also a retired veterinarian, so he knew exactly what to do with the poor dog. He says that if Ryan wasn’t there, the pooch could’ve gone into cardiac arrest because of the cold temperature.
Sadie, the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon that Ryan just rescued, eventually got warm again and was out of the woods. Fortunately, Ryan always keeps an extra set of uniforms in his truck and was able to continue to 20 more deliveries throughout the day.
Thanks to Animal Control, Sadie was able to return safely to her owners. The following day, Ryan coincidentally had a delivery to Sadie’s home and the pooch got excited when she recognized him. Her owners let her out and had her mini-reunion with Ryan.
