While there are many animal rescue and adoption centers across the globe, there are still countless strays out there. Most of these dogs are mixed breeds who are longing for love and a forever home. One such place in Costa Rica houses over 900 pups who are all ready for adoption.
This place is called The Land of Strays or Territorio de Zaguates. It is a refuge developed to serve as a home for mixed breeds who have been abandoned by society. This place offers fresh water, beds in a sheltered structure, supported and looked after by dedicated and compassionate volunteers who feed them and give them baths.
It is also a haven for pups without any threat of being maltreated. They welcome guests to play with puppies and even bring them to a hike. Visitors also have an option to adopt them, while not being pressured to do so at the same time.
What is more interesting is that all these dogs have their names as well as breed title. You would find pups such as the bunny-tailed sheep terrier, or shaggy shepherd dachspaniel, which makes each of them unique. Additionally, the sanctuary desires to inspire guests to adopt these lively dogs while helping them recognize that mixed breeds are also as impressive as purebred. At the same time, this is also to help lessen the demand that promotes irresponsible breeding operations and puppy mills.
The shelter also serves as a paradise for dog-lovers who want to enjoy the feeling of rubbing themselves to a gentle dog’s fur. Seeing crossed bred puppies wandering around has always been magical. Some of the visitors easily fall in love with the pups as they rub themselves and give positive vibes to their chosen humans. Both humans and dogs found a happy ending with each other.
