They kept going together, and he came to discovered what a strong spirit this dog had, she finished the remaining 77 miles of the race right with him. It struck a cord in him.
He called her Gobi. Before the end of the race, a strong bond had developed between them. He decided right then to bring her to his home country.
Dion had to go back to Edinburgh, but Gobi had to stay behind for quarantine. He found someone to take care of Gobi while he went back home, meanwhile trying to find a solution for how to to bring her home.
Back home, he received the shocking news through a phone call that Gobi had disappeared. They spent only a short period together, but she was already a part of his life. He had to go back to China. He had to find Gobi.
He began the search for Gobi. People found it amazing that he traveled such a long way to look for a little dog. As he searched, he realized that a lot of dogs looked like her.
It took him ten days to finally find her. At first, he was not sure it was her, but it was Gobi who recognized him. It was an incredible moment.
Dion decided to stay with Gobi and wait out the quarantine process. He wanted to make sure that she would be happy and safe, not get into any more difficulties.
The quarantine in Beijing took five months, and they spent that time getting to know each other. Gobi thought that the 45 hours long way back to Edinburgh was another adventure. It was no trouble for her.
Dion’s family welcomed Gobi with open arms. She settled nicely in Scotland. She loved running. She joined Dion in his 2-mile runs every day.
They created a bond that is just so amazing. Dion brings her to as many different places he can, they run together every day and each day is another incredible experience with her.
