A Dog Was Rescued, Trapped In Tree Root

A Dog Was Rescued, Trapped In Tree Root

Yours Truly Dogs July 14, 2020

There are times that dogs can amaze us with the things that they do. Sometimes, they get stuck in places where they can’t find an exit. This is what exactly happened to a Spaniel/Terrier mix named Teazle from Dorset.

Teazle was known to be very adventurous. On May 8th, Teazle and her mom, Clare Tredea, went for a stroll in the woods of Delcombe. It wasn’t that long when Clare noticed that her pup was missing since she usually let Treazle and her two other dogs roam around.

Clare mentioned that her pup was chasing squirrels. She also said that it’s not very usual for Teazle to run far since this pup has short legs. She started to get worried when her pup still wasn’t with her when she got at the top of the drive.

Clare’s family looked for the poor pup in the place where they stayed. There were no roads nearby, so they didn’t think someone had caught Teazle. None of the family members saw their fur baby.

The fear of Teazle’s family doubled when they got home without their pup. Clare slept on the kitchen floor, hoping that Teazle would come home anytime soon.

It was at 5 am the next morning when they started to search again – every possible place that their pup might be. Soon after, Jack, Clare’s son, saw eyes from a tree root. And there she was! Teazle got stuck in a tree root for almost 24 hours! Funny how the family haven’t noticed her even though they searched all over the place.

Since Teazle got stuck in a black hole, you couldn’t see her from any other angle besides at the top of the tree root. It was pure luck when Jack stood at the right place where Teazle is. Jack called Teazle the luckiest dog ever.

The poor pup got stuck firmly in a root shaped like a letter U. Clare thought that maybe Teazle was chasing after a squirrel and accidentally got trapped inside the tree root. It was a tough night for the poor pup.

It took 45 minutes for the family to rescue Teazle by sawing the thick root away. Emma, Jack’s girlfriend, distracted Teazle by speaking to her while protecting the poor pup’s head. Soon after, they were able to lift Teazle out of the tree. If they were not able to see where Teazle is, she might haven’t been able to survive and start to call the tree Teazle’s tomb.

It was a relief when they got Teazle home safe and sound. Luck had come into Jack’s way when he stood right at the top of the tree root. Clare added to be more observant in looking for missing pups.

The family can now laugh at the photos that Clare shared on Facebook about how silly their pup looked like when they rescued her. These photos show one of the weirdest places where a dog can get stuck!

is a collaborative Dog & Human team. We are Mumu, the Star and Epi Dog Mama, the Project Manager. Together we have worked it out. But it was difficult in the beginning. Mumu landed in Epi Dog Mama’s lap by unplanned circumstances and in bad shape at nearly 6 years of age. It was a seemingly impossible mission in several ways. The journey has been a long series of events, probably orchestrated by some benevolent force, certainly. Not always a straight line, and quite a few hurdles. But here we are and we think we have something to share. We couldn’t be happier to have found each other - it has transformed our lives. Yes, Mumu has Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI) probably since birth, an inability to produce sufficient pancreatic enzymes leading to poor absorption of nutrients and undesirable consequences. This is a condition which often gets undiagnosed by vets and misunderstood by people. This blog will tell you all about how we navigated EPI together and made it to a success, guided by that benevolent force, no doubt. Under Category EPI Dog you will learn more about how wonderful and strong Nature is if you let it have it’s say. And details about what we do to live a full, balanced, happy life. ThIs blog is not only about Mumu. There are so many other charming dogs all over the planet. They are remarkable, funny, beautiful, smart souls. Here are more stories about them too.
